Lovell High School coaches and former student athletes, the Lovell Chronicle staff and friends and family members in the community are mourning the death of Stormy Smith Jameson, who lost a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, Nov. 23, at the New Horizons Care Center in Lovell.

Jameson, 39, had been battling metastatic breast and bone cancer this summer and fall, eventually resulting in a month-long hospice stay at North Big Horn Hospital and the Care Center.

After moving from her hometown of Paris, Texas, upon her marriage to Michael Jameson of Lovell, Jameson became the LHS head varsity volleyball coach in 2010 and coached the Lady Bulldogs to a second-place finish at State in 2011 and a state championship in 2012, stepping down about three years later. She returned to the team in 2021 and coached three more years.

She was named Class 2A West Coach of the Year in 2012 and 3A West Coach of the Year in 2015.

She also served as an assistant coach for Chris Edwards with the LHS girls basketball program for some seven years before returning to volleyball and also coached middle school girls basketball. She helped with Little League Baseball and supported the USA Wrestling program.

Professionally, Jameson worked as the advertising manager at the Lovell Chronicle from 2011 until 2013, then served as the director of Lovell Inc. economic development in 2020-21 after serving as the assistant director under Elaine Harvey, and she returned to the Chronicle as advertising manager in May of 2023, adding duties as the lead reporter in May of 2025.

She was known for her love of and enthusiasm for her adopted community and local athletics. The Lovell High School volleyball team dedicated their state championship run to Jameson this fall, winning the Class 3A state championship with a win over Cody on November 8.

Stormy and Michael Jameson have four children: Kobi, 13, Jace, 12, Kali, 9, and Jett, 3.

Services for Stormy Jameson will be held Friday, Nov. 28, at 2 p.m. at the Lovell High School Winterholler Gym, with interment to follow at the Lovell Cemetery. It was her wish that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the North Big Horn Senior Center.
