Successful middle school swim season ends at conference
The Powell Middle School swimming and diving team finished its short season March 9 at the Yellowstone Conference championship meet. The athletes continued to show improvement through the season with 39 personal best times at conference meet.
Charlotte Beeton nabbed eighth place (34.27) and Bonnie Buchholtz 33rd (46.79) in the 50 free at the conference meet. Daisy Carpenter dove to an eighth-place finish in the 5 dive event with a score of 61.50 and finished eighth in the 50 fly while taking 1.70 seconds off her previous fly time and finished ninth. In Beeton’s second event, the 100 freestyle, she finished seventh in a time of 1:17.88. Buchholtz swam the 50 breaststroke and finished with a time of 57.33.

200 medley relay: Beeton and Carpenter swam on the B squad for eighth.
200 free relay: Carpenter (A) finished eighth, Beeton (B) 14th and Buchholtz (D) 21st.

Powell swam against Riverton and Cody March 2 in Riverton. With 65 splashes (swims) 31 resulted in improved times or a personal best. Included in those PBs in the 50 free were Beeton with a time of 34.18 (-0.10), Buchholtz 46.02 (-1.51); Carpenter with 67.10 points in diving (+0.30); and Beeton in 100 free 1:17.02 (-0.69). Beeton and Carpenter swam for the B squad in the 200 medley relay (breaststroke and freestyle), finishing in seventh place. Both girls swam in the 200 free relay with a fifth-place finish. Buchholz swam in the E relay for 17th.
