Tax Exemption deadline extended
WORLAND (WNE) — Unlike last year, homeowners who wish to take advantage of the Homeowners Tax Exemption (also referred to as the 25% Exemption) must apply for it. The application deadline has just been extended from February 1 to March 1.
Washakie County Deputy Assessor Nancy Quinn said the application can be filled out online by visiting ptd.wyo.gov/OWN- EROCC or at the assessor’s office. The process takes around two minutes, and the only thing people need to provide is their name.
In order to qualify for this exemption, homeowners must reside in the home eight months of the year, and it cannot be a rental or commercial property.
The deadline for the other exemptions, the Long-Term Homeowners Exemption and the Veterans Exemption is on Monday, May 25.
