TCT is continuing its fiber optic conversion project on the north end of Big Horn County with the infrastructure in several areas between Cowley and Lovell now upgraded.

In Cowley, “build” portion of the fiber upgrade is officially complete.

“We have about 50% of the locations installed at this point,” Brandon Wardell, TCT’s administrative and marketing coordinator, confirmed. “The remaining work to do is to schedule conversions with existing customers or install new customers who want to connect to the fiber network.”

In Lovell, the Nevada and Kansas area upgrades have also been completed. In the Nevada area, installations and conversions will commence following the Thanksgiving holiday. In the Kansas area, Wardell expects installs and conversions will begin after the first of the new year.

Meanwhile, work continues in the Oregon and Wyoming areas of Lovell. Wardell said that dirt work was complete and fiber cables laid in the conduits, and splicing will soon follow. In the Jersey and Quebec areas, dirt work continues, and fiber will be run upon its completion.

The conversions come as part of a multi-year, multi-million-dollar project TCT has undertaken since 2020. Using grant money awarded by a CARES Connect Wyoming as well as its own capital, the company has worked to upgrade the entirety of its service area to the latest technology. Fiber optic internet service, which uses photons to transmit data across greater distances at a faster rate than the older, pre-existing copper cable infrastructure is capable of, is considered faster, more reliable and more secure.

For both current and new TCT customers considering a fiber conversion or install, Wardell said the company plans to waive all installation fees.

“We’re offering a promotion for our Ultimate 1G package, instead,” he said. “They’ll receive our fastest speed for $85 monthly for one year.”

Wardell added that the TCT team will continue sharing updates on the project both in print and online, but added, “If folks have any questions, please give us a call or stop in the office, and we will be able to point them in the right direction.”

In those areas where the system upgrades are now complete, eligible customers wanting to upgrade or install fiber service are able to call TCT to arrange installation directly at 307-548-2112.
