Team Sinclair and MTI win local basketball championships
The Lovell Recreation District men’s league basketball season has come to an end with Team Sinclair claiming the championship.
Seven teams participated this year: Sinclair, KB Hardware, Barber Mafia, Brick Layers, Stripling Warriors, BBF South and Wise Guys, with most of the games being held in the Bair family’s Michael Jordan gymnasium.
The season began on January 21, and the tournament went from March 11 to April 8 with Team Sinclair fighting their way back into the championship game against Brick Layers after falling to KB Hardware in an earlier round.
Two games were played that night to complete the double elimination format with Team Sinclair pulling off the comeback victory, 68-45.
Team Sinclair was sponsored by Minchow’s Service, LLC of Lovell.
POWELL
Local teams also traveled to Powell to participate in their men’s league basketball league that had nine teams competing for the top spot.
The teams were Schlenker Ranch, Mountaineers, B-Team, American Snipers, MTI, Whitlock Appraisal, Ardurra, Big Horn Pest and Cowboy Country.
The championship game between American Snipers and MTI was played on Wednesday, April 16, at the Powell High School gymnasium.
MTI took first and ended the season with an undefeated record.
Finishing second was American Snipers, while Big Horn Pest ended in third and Schlenker Ranch finished fourth.
