Teams needed
Superheroes softball game Saturday
As a new way to kick off the first full day of Mustang Days, Lovell Rec director Kristine Henley has combined forces with Henry Sanchez to organize an event for Lovell residents and guests to enjoy during Mustang Days.
A softball tournament, “The League of Sluggers: a Superhero Softball Showdown,” will be held at Armory Park Saturday, June 21, beginning at 8 a.m. Sanchez said organizers chose to have a softball tournament because it would be a good introduction to the regular softball season that starts in July. To make the tournament more exciting and to promote more participation, the tournament will have the theme of superheroes.
“The idea is just for adults to dress up, deck out and just have a fun time,” Henley said.
Teams are invited to dress up as a superhero or superhero team to get into the fun of the event. The tournament is co-ed (encouraged but not required) and open to anyone 16 and older and will be formatted as a double elimination. The entry fee is $50 per team, and each team must have at least seven players.
Lovell Rec will have prizes for the top two teams, as well as the team voted as best dressed. As of Tuesday, there were only two teams signed up, and organizers are hoping for more teams so they don’t have to cancel.
The deadline for registering is Thursday at 6 p.m. For more information and to register, visit lovellrecandboces.com.
