Three local swimmers join Powell Middle School team
The Powell Middle School swimming team began its four-meet season February 24 at the Cody Quad meet and followed up the following Monday at home vs. Cody at the Powell Aquatic Center.
Swimming for PMS this year are Lovell eighth grader Charlotte Beeton and seventh graders Bonnie Buchholz and Daisy Carpenter.
The Lovell school district discontinued its middle school swimming and diving team last season but transported interested students to Powell to compete. This year there is no school transportation.
Cody Quad
Girls 50 Free: Beeton, 34.98, 3rd; Buchholz, 47.53, 27th.
Girls 50 Back: Buchholz, 56.31, 12th.
Girls 50 Fly: Carpenter, 44.63, 4th.
Girls 100 Free: Beeton, 1:21.20, 4th; Carpenter, 1:22.15, 5th.
Women - Team Ranking: Riverton 109, Worland 56, Cody 49, Powell 39.
Combined Team: Riverton 195, Worland 122, Powell 111, 4. Cody 78.
Powell/Cody Dual
Beeton improved her 50 free and 100 free times at the aquatic center, finishing -0.70 for a 34.28 and second place in the 50, also taking off 3.49 seconds in the 100 with a time of 1:17.71 for first place.
Buchholz took ninth in the 50 free with 47.30 and came in -1.22 seconds faster than her previous time, finishing fifth with a 55.09 in the 50 back.
Carpenter snagged second in the 100 free with 1:18.00, -3.10 seconds faster than her PR. She dove to a third-place finish in the 1-meter 5-dive event with a score of 66.80.
Combined team scores were Cody 217, Powell 210.
