Undefeated swim/dive team kicks into final events

Another seven team wins in conference and invitational swim meets in September has launched the Powell High School swimmers and divers into their final month of competition.

With just two regular season meets left before conference and state, the Panthers look strong for a good showing at state. Here’s a rundown of last month’s meets and individual results for the Lovell High School members of the team:

September 8 at Worland 

Team scores: Powell 364, Worland 281, Buffalo 206, Sublette Co. 187, Newcastle 72.

Paige Thomas: 100y free, 1:05.01 (5); 100y backstroke, 1:13.13 (2).

“Our three Lovell athletes on our swim team make a big contribution to the team, and we highly prize their participation,” Powell coach Robert Smartt said. “We recognize the big commitment they make to come to Powell for practices and the extra travel necessary to attend competitions. Our Statement of Powell High School Girls’ Swimming and Diving Core Values says, ‘New athletes are the lifeblood of the team.’ We highly value the athletes who join us from Lovell and Rocky Mountain high schools.”
