Veterans Day programs planned next week
Robert Boyd Stewart American Legion Post 11 will participate in three programs in honor of Veterans Day next week.
Post 11 will first play a role in the annual Veterans Day program for Lovell schools to be held Friday, Nov. 10, at 8:45 a.m. at the Lovell High School Johnny Winterholler Gym. According to Lovell Elementary School music director Chauna Bischoff, Post 11 will present the colors, and the program will include patriotic music by the Lovell middle school and high school choirs, Lovell Elementary students and the LHS band, with singers joining the band to honor all branches of the military with “Armed Forces Pride in America.”
LHS history and civics teacher Caleb Sanders will be the guest speaker, and after Taps, all in attendance will join in a closing song, Bischoff said.
The annual Veterans Day program at the North Big Horn Senior Citizens Center will be organized by Post 11, featuring the introduction of all veterans in attendance, the presentation of quilts of honor, patriotic singing by LES fifth graders and guest speaker Lee Hudon of Lovell, a veteran who served in the U.S. Army, the Army Reserve, U.S. Coast Guard, the Washington Air National Guard and the U.S. Navy.
The program begins at noon, and lunch is free for all veterans.
Post 11 will host a Veterans Day breakfast on Saturday, Nov. 11, at 10 a.m. at the Lovell Fire Hall. Students from The Point youth center will assist in serving the breakfast.
