Visitors enjoy Kane Bus Tour
The annual Kane Bus Tour was a roaring success, Lovell-Kane Area Museum board president Karen Spragg reported this week.
The tour was held Saturday, June 1, with people from a variety of area communities enjoying the outing, Spragg said.
The group visited the Kane townsite east of Lovell, the Mason-Lovell Ranch and John Blue Canyon, visiting the cabin once occupied by the famous hermit.
Spragg said she stopped the bus to talk about Frank Sykes, Stephen Gervay
and others, and the tour then continued to the
Kane-Ionia Cemetery, where the group enjoyed dowsing for graves.
“We had about 30 on the tour,” Spragg said. “Four just showed up, and four made a reservation but didn’t show up, so it balanced out. Nancy Walker was our driver again, and she’s so good.”
Members of the museum board attending with Spragg were Angie Hutzenbiler, Amanda Bennion and Ed Ewart, along with museum volunteer Annella Prosser.
“It was very much a success,” Spragg said, noting that one of the women on the tour plans to bring the museum information on the Kane Mercantile, which was run by her great-grandparents.
Spragg said people on the tour hailed from Bridger, Powell, Meeteetse, Sheridan and Dayton, along with local towns.
