Weather unfavorable for LHS golfers in Sheridan
Strong winds affected the scores of the Lovell High School spring golfers last Friday at the Sheridan Spring Invite.
“Sheridan was a brute for all involved on Friday,” LHS golf coach Dane Robertson said. “The wind was blowing excessively and the air was quite crisp.”
Lovell had four boys and two girls competing in the varsity divisions.
“We were like angry bears that woke up too early in the spring thaw,” Robertson said. “Our boys really struggled all around, but that wasn’t just us. All teams had rough days. The average score for all boys was exponentially higher than is typical.”
Matthew Allen led the way for the Bulldogs with a final score of 107, while Jaxon Hayes ended with a score of 115.
Tyler Wilkerson shot 130 for the 18-hole course, and Gary Gardner tallied 139.
For the girls, Kenley Wilson shot a 49 on the front nine and a 55 on the back nine for a total of 104. Lily Bauwens was the only other Lady Bulldog to compete and shot a 139 on the day.
“Kenley’s score was very respectable,” added Robertson. “On a good weather day, I’d expect that to be mid-90s.”
To conclude the season, the spring golf team held an informal intrasquad competition on Tuesday afternoon at Foster Gulch Golf Course.
