Weekly web site posting procedure
1. Post obituaries first, checking “obituaries” when making a new post. Attach a small picture if there is one. Use a page break to allow dates only to display in preview. 2. Post opinion articles, check “opinion” for category. 3. Post picture galleries not accompanied by a story. Do this by typing “pictures” into the tag field. These will end up showing up in the news in pictures section. 4. Post sports and news. The final five stories will display on the slider at the top of the page. You could also choose to feature opinion, but would need to accompany the story with an author picture (or other matching picture). 5. Check to see if the featured photos are displaying correctly. Find an article to be second that has a picture that works correctly with the cropped image feature. 6. Choose which posts to feature. If there are more than 5 important stories in one week, use the featured tag to bring more important stories to the top of the page.Otherwise, feature important stories from previous weeks, opinion pieces or whatever else you want. Post anything in not one of the “big 5” categories, so it will have a place to call home on the homepage.* These steps can be done before the site posts, by post-dating each article. For example, post obits at midnight, opinions at 11 am, pictures at 11:10 am, and sports and news from 11:20-noon. Post the most important stories last.
