Whiting, Kelchner win Pioneer Day races

A small but enthusiastic group of runners participated in the Cowley Pioneer Day Fun Run Saturday morning with 14 runners competing in the mile and 11 in the 5K.

Eddie Whiting won the mile, cruising to the finish line in a time of 6:56, also winning the age 30-plus division. Presli Moss and Tianna Christiansen tied for second and won the 12-17 division, running the course in 7:56. Bo Grant, running with daughter Athena placed fourth in 8:50, Athena fifth in 8:52, winning the 11 and under division.

Also running under 10 minutes were Brecklyn Whiting, finishing in 9:16, Rachel Bitton in 9:28, Kinli Bitton in 9:46 and Alex and Teresa Walker in 9:55.

Peter Kelchner won the 5K and topped the 30-plus age group in a time of 22:56, followed by Erica Lewis in 23:20. Jenna Swinton ran 25:08, Patrick Lewis 25:25. Jackson Sanders ran 28:34, Joshua Sanders 28:37, with Jackson winning the 12-17 age group.

Also running under 30 minutes were Hunter Bennion, crossing the finish line in 28:47, Isabelle Yarro in 28:47 and Adam Cramer in 28:48. Bennion captured the 18-29 age group.
