Wilson earns all-conference
The Lovell High School golf teams traveled to Cody for the conference golf tournament last weekend.
In girls action, Kenley Wilson placed 10th overall to claim all-conference recognition.
Wilson shot 112 in the opening round and improved to 111 on day two for a total of 223.
“Kenley was able to snag all-conference, and she really deserved it with how much she has worked this season,” head coach Dane Robertson said.
Madalyn MCollam wasn’t far behind Wilson for a total of 231 after shooting 113 and 118 in the two rounds.
For the boys, Matthew Allen had a solid performance in both rounds by shooting 93 and 92 for a 185 total.
Kaeson Anderson finished at 196 (97, 99), James Blau 200 (105, 95), Kellan Jackson 218 (100, 118) and Jacob Thomas 220 (105, 115).
The boys team finished in sixth place overall with a total of 796 strokes.
“It was definitely a challenging couple of days,” Robertson said. “Not only is the course tough, but the weather didn’t help out, which made the greens fast and troublesome.”
Both teams will compete in Rawlins at the state golf tournament this weekend.
“Rawlins has an exceptionally long course with water and bunkers aplenty,” said Robertson. “Distance and accuracy are both needed, so we’ll have to hone our game this week. It will be exciting.”
