Richard Lewis Byrd

Richard Lewis Byrd passed away peacefully on April 5, 2024, with his loving wife and mother at his bedside.
He was born February 18, 1964, to Richard Carl and Katherine Byrd at the United States Airforce Academy in El Paso County, Colorado. He was raised in Walden, Colorado, and graduated from North Park High School in 1982.
Richard loved the mountains and the outdoors. He especially loved to train and ride horses, and he rode bulls and broncs.
Richard was loved and respected by many people as he never knew a stranger and would help anyone in need.
He married Roxanne Wilson on April 29, 1995, in Walden, and they moved to Crystal Creek, Wyoming, for a couple years before moving to Lovell. In Lovell, he worked briefly on a gas plant, then he went to work for Wilson Land and Livestock, where he was employed as a ranch manager for the past 20 years.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Richard Carl Byrd, an aunt, an uncle and three cousins.
He is survived by his wife, Roxanne Byrd, and mother Katherine L. Byrd, both of Lovell; daughters Ashton (Sam) Kleinbum and Kriston Byrd and granddaughter Marigold “Goldie” Kleinbum, all of Minnesota; stepson Chris (Val) Keck, seven grandkids and one great-granddaughter, all of Casper.
Cremation has taken place. Services will be held Saturday, April 20, at 11 a.m. at the Bible Church in Lovell.
