Lovell Car Show to take place during Mustang Days

Buckle up. The annual car show in Lovell is scheduled for Thursday, June 27, during the week of Mustang Days celebration. The car show this year is being hosted by the CARS Street Machines car club.

The show will take place on Nevada Avenue in front of CARQUEST Auto Parts. Registration will begin at 5 p.m. The show will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. There are no entry fees. Spectators are welcome.

Five classes of awards will be presented to winners at the end of the show, including Best of Show, Best Custom, Best Modern Build 1975 or newer, Best Classic Build 1975 or older and the Diamond in the Rough category for “project cars.” Organizer Les Files said all vehicle types are welcome to enter from motorcycles to race cars and everything in between. Winners will be awarded certificates in each category.

The relatively new car club started about a year and half ago. Files said a major goal of the club is to raise money to fund scholarships for vocational education students at Lovell and Rocky Mountain high schools. A donation jar at the event will be available for those who wish to donate to the scholarships. He said the goal is to award two or more scholarships in the amount of $500 to help students with expenses related to vocational education programs.

In addition to raising funds for the scholarships, the club is also designed to pique the curiosity and interest of local car builders and owners with fun events like Main Street car cruises, car shows like the one being held this month and shop nights, where participants can work on cars or just talk about cars, twice a month.
