LMS harriers start season strong at home invitational

Starting the year off at home, the Lovell Middle School Bulldogs hosted a meet at the Foster Gulch Golf Course Thursday.

The boys team placed third in the eight-team field, and the girls placed fourth.

“We have a lot of experienced runners who are eager to improve from last year,” head coach Josh Sanders said. “Oscar Garcia was our number one boys runner, and he started this year where he ended last year. He is going to be running well for us.”

Some boy runners of note include Garcia in 12th with a time of 14.01, Weston Hendershot just behind him in 13th with a time of 14.02, Isaac Sanders 21st, running a time of 14.58, Drew Jensen 26th in 15:23 and Dagan Reuter 30th in 15:36.

In the girls race, the top Lovell runners were Eliza Wagner in 24th place with a time of 16.09, Nellie Guccion in 29th place with a time of 16.18, Chloe Asay 38th in 16:58, Macee Winterholler 39th in 17 minutes and Greenlee Pillow 53rd in 18:13.

“We have good eighth-grade leadership on the girls and boys side,” Sanders said. “We have really strong numbers, and I am glad to have April Nicholls as my assistant.” 

After the strong start to the season, the Bulldogs are busy preparing for their next meet. They are headed to Big Horn on Friday for a meet at the Big Horn Equestrian Center. The first race (middle school girls) begins at 11 a.m.
