NBHH Foundation makes donations for improvements
On June 4, the North Big Horn Hospital Foundation board of directors approved a request from New Horizons Care Center for a bariatric tub chair to go with their new bathtub for residents. The total cost of the request was $3,400, and it was approved in full.
The chair was needed to accommodate the residents when using the new bariatric bathtub that was recently purchased. The old bath chairs did not fit into the new tub, which extended bathing time for the residents and staff.
Members of the staff will prepare one resident for a bath while another is in the bath for easy transition, and this chair allows for residents to have a quick transition to and from the tub.
The board also approved $5,000 to begin making improvements to the hospice room. New furniture will be ordered, including a couch/chair that can be made into a bed for family members when they are staying in that room. The updates will also include new paint.
For the hospice room, it has not been refurbished in many years and was in need of some updating.
“The comfort of patients and their families while needing this room is important to NBHH,” hospital foundation coordinator Payton Gambill said. “We have had several families express thoughts about the room being uncomfortable when having to stay for longer periods of time. We want the room to be a place of comfort for families and patients.
“Being able to meet needs of the hospital through the foundation is one of the most meaningful parts of my role. Each request we help fulfill directly impacts patient care and supports our incredible staff in delivering the best possible service to our community.”
