Luna, Sanders win Lovell Rec District races Saturday

Former Lovell High School distance runner Anessa Luna showed she still possesses some racing prowess as she captured the 10-kilometer division of the Lovell Recreation District Labor Day Weekend half marathon and 20K running event Saturday morning.

Luna posted a time of 52 minutes to finish first overall and, thus, capture the women’s division, as well.

Jill Allen placed second in a time of 52:15, Emily Asay third in 55:27 and Lynn Guccion fourth in 1:04:58. Following were Adrienne Mangus, Shelly Shultz, Desiree Crosby and Aubrey Walker.

Isaac Sanders won the half marathon and the men’s division in 1:45:12, and Abby Murphy won the women’s division in 1:57:32.

Placing second overall was Cameron Carpenter, covering the course in 1:52:58.46, neck and neck with twin brother Quinn, who placed third by a hair in 1:52:58.40. Murphy was fourth, followed by David Sanders in 1:59:00 and April Nicholls in 2:03:06.
