LMS Lady Bulldogs mix it up with Worland Tuesday
The Lovell Middle School girls basketball squads started heading down the home stretch Tuesday with conference games against Worland.
On Tuesday, Dec. 2, the eighth-grade Lady Bulldogs hosted the Worland Warriors on their own home court. In a heated match, the Bulldogs A team came out on top, 33-13. During the first half alone, the team scored 25 points.
“Our girls are getting a lot more confident during games, and they are doing an exceptional job of sharing the ball,” head coach Chris Edwards said.
In the first quarter Taylor Henderson scored 4 points, Oakley Anderson scored 3 points and Laney Felkins 2. In the second quarter, Anderson scored another 9 points, and Felkins, Henderson and Rubie Weber added 2 points apiece.
In the third quarter, Henderson scored 8 more points, and no points were scored during the fourth quarter. Henderson was the highest scoring individual this week with 14 total points. Close behind her was Anderson with 12 points, all of which were 3-point shots.
“We coaches have been excited seeing the progression over the season, and we can’t wait to see what they do this coming weekend and going into their conference games,” Edwards said.
The eighth-grade B team also hosted Worland, but after a hard-fought game, the Lady Bulldogs fell short to the Warriors, 32-13.
Seventh grade
Tuesday, the seventh-grade Lovell girls basketball teams played at Worland. The A team lost 26-11, and Coach Collin McArthur noted, “The girls did much better than the first time we played Worland, but we still can be more aggressive. The girls did much better against the press and moving the ball.”
The B team also lost by a score of 32-16.
“We still have some things to clean up, but overall, we are very happy with the girls’ effort and hope they continue to improve as we get closer to conference tournament”
The Lovell A teams will travel to Worland Saturday and play Riverton and Lander, starting at 9 a.m., and the eighth-grade B team will travel to Powell Friday for a 2 p.m. tip-off.
