Interest is increasing in the field of audio-visual education, according to Mr. Chester Christiansen, director of the audio-visual program in the Lovell school system. Equipment being used in the program includes a 16mm sound projector, two filmstrip projectors, a slide projector and two record players. Approximately 200 filmstrips have been assembled and catalogued, and these are being used extensively in the school classrooms.

One of Lovell’s oldest businesses has been sold. Don and Marilyn Dover have announced the sale of Dover’s Cleaners to Don and Donna Williams. The Dovers will continue to operate Sears here; the Williams also operate the A&W drive in.

Mrs. Florence Kelley may be the businesswoman with the longest tenure in Lovell – and she’s staying with the business as the Williams take it over. She began with Dover’s Cleaners, then Lovell Laundry, 48 years ago on May 1, 1927, as a press girl.

The Lovell recycling program is still in limbo, but progress was made Tuesday night during a presentation and ensuing discussion about the program’s future at the Lovell Town Council meeting. Longtime local recycling advocate Christy Fleming began the discussion by presenting an updated plan and budget for the program, … changing potential work hours for a town employee running the program from four hours per day for five days a week to four hours per day for four days a week. The change would allow the town to realize about $2,000 more per year in revenue from recycled material than under the five-day plan.
