Young Grizzly cagers drop three

The Rocky Mountain junior varsity boys dropped two games over the weekend but battled their opponents hard.

Friday at Tongue River, the Grizzlies led 34-10 at halftime, only to see the home team storm back to outscore the Grizz 40-15 in the second half to win 50-49. Jaxx May and Jaxson Miller led Rocky with 14 points each, and Cooper Ward added 10 points, Jaxson Sponsel 7 and Gary Gardner and Travis Crosby 2 each.

Saturday at home, the Grizz fell to Wyoming Indian 40-29. Rocky led 21-17 at halftime, but the Chiefs rallied with a 23-8 second-half advantage. Miller scored 11, May 10, Ward 7 and Sponsel 1.

 

Freshmen

Hosting Lovell Monday, the Rocky freshman/C squad fell 49-27. The Grizz trailed by just two points after the first quarter, 13-11, the Lovell outscored the home team 36-16 the rest of the way. Sponsel and May scored 9 each for the Grizzlies, Ward 8. Ward led the team with 11 rebounds, and May tallied eight boards, Sponsel six.

The freshmen will host Riverside Tuesday at 6:15 p.m. for their final game of the season.
