Lovell freshmen boys win four of five during busy stretch

The Lovell freshman boys have been on a roll lately. Jacob Lohoff’s team has plowed through the recent schedule with four wins in five games.

Last Monday, Feb. 2, the freshmen boys beat Powell Monday 62-44 as Kannon Owens scored 22 points, Mac Morgan 13, Easton Morgan 11, Mason Leithead 6, Weston Hendershot and Aaiden Walker 4 apiece, Hudson Miller 2.

Lovell beat Worland 72-43 Tuesday evening as 10 players scored for the deep squad. Owens ripped the cords for 19 points, and Mac Morgan, Walker and Leithead added 9 each, Mike Cornia 8, Easton Morgan 5, Hendershot and Kade Durtsche 4 apiece, Miller 3 and Tejeo Scheeler 2.

The Bulldogs added a game with Lander Saturday, and the Tigers from Fremont County prevailed 41-36. Mac Morgan scored 11, Miller and Cornia 7 each, Walker and Scheeler 4 apiece and Hendershot 3.

The team’s busy schedule continued this week as the Bulldogs won a pair of games against local rivals. Monday in Cowley, the Bulldogs topped Rocky Mountain 49-27. Lovell led by two points after the first quarter, 13-11, then outscored the Grizzlies 36-16 the rest of the way.

 Owens scored 21 for the Bulldogs, Mac Morgan 9, Hendershot 7, Easton Morgan 6 and Durtsche and Cornia 3 apiece.

Playing their final home game Tuesday, the Bulldogs stopped Burlington 54-45. Lovell built a 31-13 halftime lead, but the Huskies outscored the home team 20-11 in the third to cut the margin to nine, 42-33. Both teams scored 12 in the fourth.

Owens poured in 18 points, and Mac Morgan and Cornia scored 8 each, Miller 6, Walker and Scheeler 4 apiece, Hendershot 3, Durtsche 2 and Leithead 1.

The freshmen will travel to Greybull Monday for a 6:15 p.m. tip-off.

 

Frosh girls

The Lovell freshman girls swept Powell and Worland at home last Monday and Tuesday. The Lady bulldogs clobbered Powell 59-21 Monday as Brynnlee Spanier scored 15 points, Morgan Harshman 14, Gracie Angell 11, Myles May 10, Macie Anderson 6, Kelsey Mangus 2 and Kinzie Blain 1.

Lovell pounded Worland Tuesday, 59-15, as Harshman scored 15, May 13, Anderson and Spanier 10 each, Angell 9 and Blain 2.
