Lovell FFA chapter competes well at state convention

Two weeks ago, Lovell High School FFA members competed at the state convention, earning strong placings across several events.

FFA is a student organization centered around agriculture, leadership and career skills, giving students hands-on experience in things like livestock judging, speaking events and real-world skills.

“FFA gives students hands-on experience in agriculture and helps prepare them for future careers in the field,” said advisor Nicolas Edelman.

Lovell’s horse judging team had one of the top performances of the competition, placing first in placings, second in reasons and third in halter, finishing as the reserve champion team overall. In livestock judging, the team placed second in high team female selection, with Addi Perkins finishing as the fifth high individual overall. Perkins also placed in the top 10 in Employment Skills.

In poultry judging, the team placed seventh in reasons, with Harley Tillett and Lilly Verplancke both finishing in the top 15 individually in reasons. Lovell also saw success in leadership events, with Daisy Carpenter earning a top five finish in the FFA Creed speaking event.

Edelman said the results reflect the time and effort students have put in throughout the year.
