Sheriff report: Frannie man arrested for domestic violence

The Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office received the following calls for the week of May 25-31:

May 25: 8:52 a.m. – Deputies responded to a report of a small airplane that flipped over upon landing at the North Big Horn County Airport north of Cowley.

11:49 a.m.—A caller requested information on a vehicle apparently abandoned on his property on Highway 14A West near Byron. A deputy provided information on the abandoned vehicle process.

2:41 p.m. – A deputy provided assistance to a driver whose vehicle was stuck in the mud at the U.S. 14A causeway east of Lovell. The two were able to free the vehicle.

May 26: 4:23 p.m. – A caller reported a vehicle on U.S. 310 in the Cowley area possibly operated by an intoxicated driver. A deputy found the vehicle parked at the driver’s residence and spoke to the driver. No DUI was suspected.

11:28 p.m. – Dispatch provided information to a resident of Byron on who to contact to unlock a vehicle after keys were locked inside the vehicle. 

May 27: 11:28 a.m. – A caller near Deaver complained that juveniles were spinning donuts, damaging the pavement and their tires throwing rocks. Extra patrol was initiated.

4:44 p.m. – A caller reported a woman walking down the middle of the highway and trying to flag cars down just north of Deaver on U.S. 310. A deputy responded but was unable to locate the individual.

8:15 p.m. – Deputies responded to a domestic dispute in Frannie. Derrick Eugene Johnson was arrested for domestic violence with bodily injury.

May 28: 11:59 a.m. – A caller reported a black SUV driving through Byron at a high rate of speed. A deputy was unable to locate the vehicle.

12:12 p.m. – A caller reported that a rock flew off a passing dump truck and shattered the caller’s windshield. The caller needed a report for insurance.

4:13 p.m. – Big Horn County Search and Rescue responded to the Bald Mountain Campground in the Bighorn National Forest for a report of a vehicle stuck in the snow. The North Squad responded and pulled the vehicle free.

9:05 p.m. – A deputy responded to the Lovell Rodeo Grounds after a report of a pickup with kids in the bed of the truck spinning cookies. The deputy cited the juvenile driver for careless driving and notified the driver’s parents.

May 29: 7:19 a.m. – A deputy removed tire debris from the highway on U.S. 310 two miles west of Cowley.

9:51 a.m. – Deputies responded to the scene of an accident in which a Ford service truck with a utility box had slid into a canal on Road 6½ west of Cowley. A wrecker was called to pull the truck out, and there was no damage to the truck or the canal.

11:52 a.m. – A caller reported a white Toyota Camry driving at a high rate of speed northbound out of Deaver. A deputy responded to the area but was unable to locate the vehicle. Carbon County, Montana, authorities were notified.

12:13 p.m. – A deputy checked out a report of a damaged stop sign at Road 15 and U.S. 14A east of Lovell. WyDOT was notified, and a temporary sign was put in place.

1:03 p.m. – A caller reported that a real estate sign had been hit in the area of Highway 32 and Lane 12 for the second time. The case is under investigation.

May 30: 2:35 p.m. – A dead cow was reported floating in the river two miles west of Lovell.

May 31: 1:39 a.m. – A deputy assisted the Lovell Police Department with responding to a noise complaint regarding a backyard party on East Sixth Street in Lovell.

2 a.m. – A deputy assisted the LPD regarding a suspicious vehicle circling the hospital following an incident at a Lovell bar.

11:16 a.m. – A traffic complaint stated that an older Suburban was driving at a high rate of speed in and out of Byron on County Road 5. Extra patrol was provided.

11:58 a.m. – A caller reported that a silver Chevy truck was speeding with a child on the driver’s lap heading toward Lovell from Byron. A deputy was unable to see a vehicle matching the description.

12:27 p.m. – A deputy assisted Lovell police with an arrest.

9:16 p.m. – A family near Deaver asked if anyone had called in regarding ponies that they found missing when they returned from a weekend trip. They were advised that deputies would keep an eye out for the missing ponies.

There were eight other livestock calls handled by deputies during the week.

County arrests this week included Rodney Wade Armstrong on a hold order from Probation and Parole.
