Mustang Follies ‘going all-out patriotic’

The Mustang Follies will feature a patriotic program along the line of the overall Lovell’s Day Celebration in honor of the 250th birthday of the United States of America, organizer Tianne Samson said this week.

Stars, Stripes and Freedom – United We Shine will be staged next Wednesday and Thursday, June 24-25, at the historic Hyart Theatre in Lovell.

Tickets go on Sale Friday at 10 a.m. online at www.ticketor.com/lovellsdays, and those who prefer to purchase tickets in person can do so at the chamber of commerce office at 287 East Main from noon to 3 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday.

The doors open each night at 6 p.m., and the Dollies of the Follies will perform with the Mustang Band on the street in front of the theater. The curtain goes up inside at 7 p.m.

“We’re going all-out patriotic,” Samson said, “honoring veterans and celebrating our nation’s birthday.”

Samson said the show will feature favorites like the Rockettes, Bench Dancers, Rocky Mountain Cloggers and the Dollies, plus “a good variety of singing and dancing.” The Follies Choir will sing “Armed Forces – the Pride of America.”

Also featured will be a youth dance group, a comedic skit directed by Logan Blau and a slide show featuring past and present veterans.

Gabe Bair and Jay Mayes will engage in a bucket drum battle, and the song “This is Our Hometown” written by Samson will be sung to the tune “This Land is Your Land.”

“We hope to have 11 to 12 acts,” Samson said.

Masters of ceremony will again be Dr. Michael Hill and Renae Padilla Ball.
