Sheriff report: Deputies help at scene of two rollovers
The Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office received the following calls for the week of June 15-21:
June 15: 11:16 a.m. – A resident on the Crystal Creek Road reported threatening statements made by a neighbor in regard to a livestock issue.
June 16: 5:42 a.m. – A caller reported that a truck they were following on U.S. 310 south of Lovell was losing diesel fuel and had been for 20 miles or so. The Wyoming Highway Patrol was advised.
11:48 a.m. A caller reported a dead antelope just off the highway on Lane 16½ near Lovell. There was no lane blockage.
9:46 p.m. – A fire call reported a pile of cut weeds and trash on fire and another smoking near the Bighorn Canyon Visitor Center east of Lovell.
June 17: 5 a.m. – A caller reported hitting a raccoon south of Lovell near Lovell Lakes, stating that the vehicle was drivable but that a police report was needed for an insurance claim.
7:38 a.m. – A white poodle and a hound dog were reported running loose at Lane 13/Road 11½ south of Lovell, with the caller worried that they might get hit by a car. The caller was informed that there is no animal control law in the county, but dispatch would take the information in case someone called looking for the pets.
10:59 a.m. – Deputies responded to a disturbance on Lane 9 near Deaver, with the male caller reporting that his ex-girlfriend was on the scene yelling. The woman had left by the time deputies arrived.
8:24 p.m. – A caller from Frannie said a neighbor’s seven horses keep coming onto his property and another neighbor’s property, getting into a haystack. The caller stated that the horse owner does come by to put the horses away, but it’s a daily problem due to poor fences. A deputy left a message with the horse owner that the owner is responsible for keeping the horses contained and that the owner could be held civilly responsible for damage.
June 18: 8:59 a.m. – A caller asked if a fire had been called in about a mile east of the shooting range northeast of Lovell, stating that smoke blowing across the road was so thick that drivers were having to stop. The call was transferred to the Lovell dispatch center for a fire department page-out.
2:17 p.m. – Deputies responded to the scene of a one-vehicle rollover one mile south of Frannie on U.S. 310 on the Park County side of the highway. A Lovell woman and her grandson were transported to North Big Horn Hospital and later released.
8:33 p.m. – A caller reported traffic control barrels blowing into the lane of travel east of Lovell at the bridge project. A deputy fixed the situation.
June 19: 11:05 a.m. – Deputies assisted at the scene of a one-vehicle rollover in which a car had “flipped upside down” just north of Deaver on U.S. 310. A woman from Powell had apparently fallen asleep at the wheel. She was transported to the hospital in Lovell.
12:20 p.m. – A caller said her bank account had been accessed by someone using her phone number and that she had lost $400. She said she was working with her bank on the matter.
June 20: 12:06 a.m. – A caller from the Diamond J Bar said a patron was in no shape to drive. A deputy gave the person a ride home.
8:01 p.m. – Deputies assisted Lovell police with an arrest on East Eighth Street in Lovell. Coty Brinkerhoff was arrested on a bond violation.
June 21: 8:02 a.m. - A caller reported that three horses and a goat were running loose on Lane 11 near Lovell.
1:07 p.m. – A caller reported that an elderly woman had hit mailboxes and a county road sign when she drove to check her mail on Road 12½ near Lovell. She said she would pay for the mailboxes.
4:09 p.m. – After repeated complaints of barking dogs on Lane 2½ near Frannie, the pet owner was cited for breach of peace.
11:11 p.m. – A black bear was reported running through the north side of town. Deputies joined Lovell police in attempting to spot the animal, but the bear was not spotted again.
