Police report: Girl ‘covered in blood’ just wearing tie-dye

The Lovell Police Department received the following calls for the week of July 20-26:

July 20: 1:51 p.m. – A woman called to say that she was watering her lawn at the Bair Trailer Court when a Chocolate Lab came running out of a nearby house and bit her on the stomach. Officers responded and made contact with the dog owner. Since the dog was found to have current vaccinations and town tags, the reporting party did not wish to press charges.

3:11 p.m. – Police investigated a minor crash at the North Big Horn Hospital Clinic in which a female driver was backing out of a parking space and struck an unoccupied parked vehicle. There was minor damage, and the driver reported the fender bender inside the facility. The owner of the other car was asked to call police to complete the accident report.

July 21: 6:05 p.m. – Following a report of a red Tesla traveling at a high rate of speed and passing in a no-passing zone heading toward Lovell, an officer followed the vehicle in town but observed no violations.

10:20 p.m. – A male caller on West Third said he needed assistance talking to his girlfriend. An officer responded and mediated the conversation.

11:51 p.m. – A caller complained of music “turned up really loud” at Bair’s Trailer Court. An officer made contact, and the residents with the loud music said they would shut it off for the night.

July 22: 1:43 a.m. – A female caller on Nevada Avenue said the neighbor’s dogs were barking, growling and “trying to get her” when she tried to get out of her car. She said the same thing has happened multiple times. The dog owner had called the dogs back, but an investigation was opened.

July 23: 4:18 a.m. – Officers responded to a trailer fire behind the Travelodge on East Main. The Lovell Volunteer Fire Department extinguished the blaze.

7:57 a.m. – A female went to the fire department seeking help to get away from her husband. She was taken to the police station nearby, given information on help from CARES and provided a motel room for the following night.

2:43 p.m. – A caller reported a black Chevy Tahoe with Montana plates driving at Shoshone and West Second driven by a teenage boy with his shirt off and going fast around corners. An officer responded but was unable to locate the vehicle.

7:18 p.m. – An officer responded to a report of a domestic dispute between a father and daughter at Bair’s Trailer Court. Minor contact had been made, and the officer spoke to the individuals to calm the situation.

July 24: 9:13 a.m. – A caller reported that her kids were trying to ride their bicycles, but the neighbor’s dog keeps jumping the fence and chasing the kids on their bikes. Her husband had to chase the dogs back into their yard. The animal control officer attempted to make contact with the dog owner.

7:34 p.m. – A caller on Shoshone Avenue reported that a Fed Ex package had mistakenly been delivered to a neighbor’s address, but the caller had a criminal trespass order on the neighbor so was asking for help to retrieve the package. An officer did so.

July 25: 6:57 p.m. – A caller on Nevada Avenue said a neighbor’s dogs ran across the street and attacked the reporting party’s dog. The neighbor was issued two citations for dangerous dogs.

9:48 p.m. – A caller on Nevada Avenue reported that she once again could not get into her vehicle due to a neighbor’s aggressive dogs, saying she had video evidence. The dogs were later impounded.

9:59 p.m. – The owner of the aggressive dogs, Nichol Brinkerhoff, 46, was stopped and arrested for driving under suspension. The dogs were quarantined because of the earlier incidents and were found to have no proof of vaccinations or town tags.

July 26: 2:59 p.m. – An officer responded to a report of a possibly intoxicated male throwing things out of a house on East Second Street. The officer spoke to a female who was in the process of leaving, and the male was “helping her get her things out of the house” after a breakup.

9:53 p.m. – Officers responded to a report of a girl covered in blood on Shoshone Avenue near the elementary school. The girl was found to be wearing a tie-dye shirt with purple dye on the front.

Note: The above calls were received by the Lovell Police Department. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
