Police report: Attempted break-in reported at the Hyart Theatre

The Lovell Police Department received the following calls for the week of August 3-9:

August 3: 12:50 p.m. – A dog reported loose at The Market on Main Street was picked up by an officer. The officer called the dog owner, who was out of town, and placed the dog in the shelter to be picked up by the owner later.

August 4: 3:17 p.m. – A caller reported that he was almost hit by a vehicle on East Fifth Street, causing him to swerve and run over the curb. An officer spoke to the reporting party.

6:16 p.m. – A caller on East 10th Street reported a badger in their backyard. An officer responded, and the badger headed off toward the canal. (See related story.)

7:49 p.m. – A caller on Jersey Avenue expressed concern that a driver hit their fence on Saturday and promised to fix it but had not done so. The reporting party called back to say that they had gotten a hold of the person, who promised to fix the fence the following weekend.

August 5: 12:14 p.m. – The animal control officer picked up a mini chihuahua spotted running loose near Maverik.

3:03 p.m. – A caller reported a female passed out on a front porch at Bair’s Trailer Court. An officer responded to check on the woman, who was fine.

August 6: 2:07 p.m. – A caller reported a drunk driver coming into town from U.S. 310. The driver stopped at Family Dollar where an officer made contact. The call was unfounded.

7:03 p.m. – A caller requested a civil standby on West Third while a person was on site picking up personal possessions.

August 7: 11:27 a.m. – A caller reported a man at The Market on Main Street wearing no shoes and unsteady on his feet. An officer was unable to locate the individual.

11:32 a.m. – A man at the Town View Apartments flagged down an officer, saying he needed an ambulance. The officer checked out the individual and gave him a ride to the hospital.

August 8: 2:21 p.m. – An officer responded to East Third Street after a call requesting a welfare check. The individual being checked refused transport to the hospital.

2:26 p.m. – An attempted break-in was reported at the Hyart Theatre. An officer responded and found evidence of prying on the doors on the eastern side of the building. There was no evidence of anything inside being stolen or vandalized.

8:33 p.m. – A caller reported that two handguns had been stolen from a vehicle parked in a driveway on East 10th Street. The case is under investigation.

August 9: 3:50 p.m. – A caller reported a domestic dispute on Shoshone Avenue. An officer responded, and a male agreed to go with the officer to the hospital for a mental evaluation. The dispute was not physical.

11:51 p.m. – An officer responded to a disturbance on East Second Street, finding a male and female arguing. The two were separated for the night.

Note: The above calls were received by the Lovell Police Department. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
