Nancy Van Fleet

April 23, 1945 – Sept. 8, 2026

Nancy Van Fleet died September 8, 2026, in Lovell.

She was born in Cody to Bill and Ruth Sidwell on April 23, 1945. Those 81 years in between were filled with accomplishments of talent and love.

Nancy was a lifelong member of the LDS Church, baptized in Kermit, Texas, married in the Salt Lake Temple to Brent Van Fleet and educated at Brigham Young University in Provo.

She was the middle school librarian for Sheridan, Wyoming, Junior High School during the ‘80s and ‘90s and lived with her family in the log home they built on the Fish Hatchery Road in Story.

Nancy was always a craft person, knitting many prized garments for those she loved. She also enjoyed card making and cooking.

Due to complications from spinal meningitis and a variety of health problems, she lost the use of her legs and was not able to live on her own. The decision was made to move from her retirement home in Frisco, Texas, to the nursing home in Lovell.

Nancy is survived by her three children, Ryan (Shea), Bill (Monica) and Victoria; grandchildren Hanna (Hunter), Grace, Kayden, Kayson and Amaury; sisters Charlotte (Mike) Hinckley and Linda (Richard) Bull; and sister-in-law Melissa Van Fleet.

A short service will be held Friday, Sept. 11, at 10 a.m. at Haskell Funeral Home in Lovell.  Burial will be at the Shell Cemetery, south of County Lane #31, Shell, at about 11:30 a.m. Lunch will be at the Shell Store afterward.
