Paraprofessional at RMES, Special Education/Title 1

What is your background? Where are you from? What is your professional experience?

I did most of my growing up in Shell/Greybull area. After graduating I moved away, living in Arizona, Nevada and Nebraska before moving back to Wyoming.

Tell us about your family.

My husband and I have four children. Our oldest is 16 and our youngest is 7 years old. We have always lived on a ranch everywhere we have lived. After moving back to Wyoming we started our own business training horses. Our kids stay busy showing horses, pigs and goats in 4-H almost all year around.

Why did you get into education as a profession, and what do you like the most about teaching?

I have always thought I might get into education as soon as all my kids were in school. So far the best thing about teaching is being able to interact and building relationships with the students.

What is your teaching philosophy? How do you get the most out of students and inspire them to learn?

I have tried to create a safe place where the students feel comfortable, valued and motivated to learn. I hope to build positive relationships with students by showing a genuine interest in their lives.

What are you most looking forward to this school year?

Being able to watch the students grow academically and learning as much as I can from other teachers.
