Simmons resigns from NBHH board to accept full-time Cody position
Todd Simmons has resigned from the North Big Horn Hospital Board of Directors after accepting a full-time position in Cody with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Simmons served as an at-large trustee on the North Big Horn Hospital board. His term was scheduled to end Dec. 31, 2026.
In his resignation letter, Simmons said the move reflected changes in his family’s work and living situation.
“In consideration of recent changes to our family’s livelihood and relocation to Cody, I regret to inform you of my resignation, effective immediately.” Simmons wrote.
Simmons thanked the people he worked with during his service to the hospital district.
“I have enjoyed my association with fellow board members, hospital staff and associates,” he wrote. “I am hopeful my efforts have been of value to the hospital district and the wonderful communities we have served.”
He concluded by expressing his appreciation for the area and optimism for the hospital district’s future.
“My sincere wishes are for the hospital’s optimistic future and the community we love and will miss deeply,” Simmons wrote.
NBHH CEO Eric Connell said Simmons brought energy, engagement and sound judgment to the board during an important period for the hospital district.
“Todd Simmons brought a new energy to the NBHH Board of Directors and made a difference from day one,” Connell said. “He was engaged and insightful at every turn, helping us tackle complexity in a period of growth. He will be missed.”
Board Chairman David Winterholler said Simmons’ business experience and financial expertise made him an especially valuable member of the board.
“Todd effectively led the financial part of it and worked with the financial side of the hospital,” Winterholler said. “He made us better than we were.”
Winterholler said Simmons’ knowledge of finance and business was readily apparent during board discussions.
“His background in finance and his experience as a businessman, oh my gosh, it is pretty hard to replace a Todd Simmons,” Winterholler said. “I didn’t realize he had that much savvy. I mean, he’s a sharp guy.”
Winterholler said the board will miss both Simmons’ expertise and his contribution to its work.
“He was engaged in the work, and you are sad to see him go,” Winterholler said.
The NBHH board includes Garret Frescoln of the Deaver-Frannie area, whose term ends Dec. 31, 2026; Max Lewis, an at-large trustee whose term ends Dec. 31, 2028; and Brett Crosby of the Byron-Cowley area, whose term ends Dec. 31, 2026. Patricia Crumrine represents Lovell and has a term ending Dec. 31, 2028.
The remaining at-large trustees are Bruce Morrison, whose term ends Dec. 31, 2026; Simmons, whose seat had been scheduled to expire Dec. 31, 2026; and Winterholler, the board chairman, whose term ends Dec. 31, 2028.
According to the Big Horn County, Wyoming, election website, Morrison, Crosby and Frescoln have each filed to retain their board seats in the November 3 general election. Each is currently running unopposed.
Simmons’ departure creates an opening among the board’s at-large trustees. At a meeting earlier this week, the board voted to name trustee Max Lewis as its new treasurer, replacing Simmons in that officer role. The board will address filling Simmons’ trustee vacancy according to its established procedures.
